CANADIAN DENTAL CARE PLAN

A federal program that helps make dental care accessible.

The CDCP is a federal government program providing dental coverage for Canadian residents who don’t have private dental benefits and have a household income under $90,000 a year. It’s administered by Sun Life on behalf of Health Canada. It isn’t free, but it significantly lowers the cost of care for eligible patients.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Does Orangeville Smiles Dentistry accept the CDCP?

Yes. We're an enrolled CDCP provider and welcome patients of all ages under the plan.

I already have private dental insurance. Should I cancel it for the CDCP?

No. The CDCP is meant to supplement gaps in coverage, not replace existing private insurance. Keep your current plan.

What counts as 'not having dental insurance'?

You don't have coverage through an employer or family member's workplace benefits, a pension plan, or a private or group insurance plan.

Is every dental service covered?

No. Coverage follows a defined list of services and may include co-payments depending on your income tier. We'll confirm what's covered before any treatment.

Should I wait for my CDCP approval before booking a check-up?

No. Don't delay care while your application is processing. Oral health issues rarely improve on their own, and we can help you understand your options in the meantime.
