COMMON QUESTIONS

What is NIHB?

The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program provides eligible First Nations and Inuit clients with coverage for a range of health benefits, including dental care, that aren't covered through other plans.

Do I need to pay upfront?

In most cases, no. We direct bill NIHB for eligible preventive, diagnostic, and restorative services, so you're not stuck managing claim paperwork.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your Certificate of Indian Status card (or other proof of eligibility) along with any government ID. Our team will confirm your coverage before your visit.

What services are covered?

Coverage generally includes check-ups, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other essential dental treatments. Some services may require pre-approval. Our team will help you navigate that process.
